Xmgm: Performance Modeling Using Matrix Geometric Techniques

چکیده
Over the last two decades a considerable amount of e ort has been put in the development and applica tion of matrix geometric techniques for the analysis of queueing systems of which the embedded Markov chain exhibits a regular structure Most of this work however has been presented in either a mathematical context or in a purely application oriented context In this paper we present Xmgm a performance analysis tool which allows its users to easily specify queueing systems in terms of interarrival and ser vice time distributions Xmgm then takes care of the translation of this description to an underlying Markov chain that exhibits a matrix geometric solution Subse quently it takes care of the derivation of the measures speci ed by the user With Xmgm models are speci ed via C procedure calls This turns out to be a very exible approach for modelling queueing systems it also allows for the easy evaluation of models over parameter ranges

Current geometric and solid modeling systems use semi-algebraic sets for deening the boundaries of solid objects, curves and surfaces, geometric constraints with mating relationship in a mechanical assembly, physical contacts between objects, collision detection. It turns out that performing many of the geometric operations on the solid boundaries or interacting with geometric constraints is re...
متن کاملAlgebraic pruning: a fast technique for curve and surface intersection
Computing the intersection of parametric and algebraic curves and surfaces is a fun damental problem in computer graphics and geometric modeling This problem has been extensively studied in the literature and di erent techniques based on subdivision interval analysis and algebraic formulation are known For low degree curves and surfaces algebraic methods are considered to be the fastest whereas...
متن کاملThe Performance of an Hexahedron C* Element in Finite Element Analysis
The performance of an 8-noded hexahedron C1* element in elasticity is investigated. Three translational displacements and their derivatives as strain in each direction are considered as degrees of freedom (d.o.f.’s) at each node. The geometric mapping is enforced using a C0 element with no derivative as nodal d.o.f.’s . The stiffness matrix of the element is also computed using a transformation...
متن کاملPerformance Modeling of Power Generation System of a Thermal Plant
The present paper discusses the development of a performance model of power generation system of a thermal plant for performance evaluation using Markov technique and probabilistic approach. The study covers two areas: development of a predictive model and evaluation of performance with the help of developed model. The present system of thermal plant under study consists of four subsystems with...
